The 2025 Mustang GTD redefines performance, standing as the most powerful street-legal Mustang in history. Equipped with an impressive 815 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque, this beast is engineered to hit a top speed of 202 mph, making it the fastest Mustang ever made.
Key to this remarkable performance are features like advanced active aerodynamics, high-performance carbon-ceramic brakes, and an innovative inboard rear suspension with semi-active dampers. These innovations are not just for show; they’re crucial to helping the Mustang GTD achieve its ambitious goal of a sub-seven-minute lap time at the Nürburgring.
Engineering Excellence
“We’ve been laser-focused since day one to make Mustang GTD the first-ever supercar with world-class performance and the soul of a Mustang,” said Greg Goodall, Chief Program Engineer for the GTD. According to Goodall, the car’s 5.2-liter supercharged V8 outpaces rivals like the Porsche 911 GT3 RS in horsepower per liter.
The upgraded engine features Ford’s first-ever dry-sump oil system, which is designed to keep the engine lubricated during intense cornering. This system also allows the engine to rev higher, reaching a maximum speed of 7,650 rpm—100 rpm more than previous Mustang engines.
Other performance enhancements include a revised intake and exhaust system, a standard titanium exhaust, and a smaller supercharger pulley, all working together to maximize the car’s power output.
Optimized for Speed and Control
In addition to raw power, the Mustang GTD boasts advanced aerodynamics that help balance speed and stability. The car is equipped with a Drag Reduction System that adjusts the rear wing and activates front flaps to optimize airflow, striking the perfect balance between downforce for grip and reduced drag for top speed.
“We’ve combined the work of talented engineers and designers, as well as an extremely capable driver, with Mustang GTD technology, power, and aerodynamics,” Goodall added. “We can’t wait to deliver on our sub-7-minute promise to GTD customers.”
With all these high-performance features, the 2025 Mustang GTD isn’t just about raw power. It’s a precision-engineered supercar that still maintains the essence of a Mustang.
